On July 19, 2024, CrowdStrike, a leading cybersecurity firm, faced a significant technical issue with their Falcon Sensor endpoint protection solution. A Rapid Response Content update (File 291) intended to enhance threat detection capabilities inadvertently led to widespread Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) crashes on Windows operating systems.
